Nitinder Mohan

nitinder Fellowship:Nitinder Mohan joined CleanSky ITN on 1st September 2015. He was appointed for the ESR 8 fellowship and is investigating the scalability of computationally-intensive clouds at University of Helsinki (Finland).

Bio: Nitinder received the Master of Technology degree in Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Mobile Ubiquitous Computing from Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)-Delhi, India. During his study, he worked on several aspects of networking and distributed computing. For his Master’s dissertation, he worked on a scalable fault tolerant checkpointing mechanism for applications employing Information Centric Networks (ICN) for communication. For this scope, he developed a checkpointing algorithm which utilized the internal name-based message format of ICN. After his studies and before joining CleanSky, Mr Mohan also worked in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi, India as a Project Scientist in an Intel Labs, USA funded research project which aimed at sharing resources of computationally-insufficient devices in a Device-to-Device (D2D) network.

What’s your motivation for doing your PhD, and why within CleanSky?
During my academic career, I realized that the entire concept of contributing something to research community that no one else has thought of intrigued me. I am motivated to work harder when I posed a problem that does not have a designated solution. The research I did for my Masters and during my work as a Project Scientist helped me with my self-growth by providing me with the opportunity to connect and collaborate with greatest minds in networking. Being part of CleanSky and Marie Curie Actions allows me to pursue more such collaborations in hot topics in networking such as Cloud Computing.
What is your goal after finishing your PhD?
I intend to continue researching in network field. Currently, I am open to the idea of doing a post-doc or joining a research lab to sharpen my researching skills further. I am also quite passionate about teaching methodologies and would like to seek a career in academics.
